I took my JDM mirrors apart to convert to Heated.

To replace the motor it is the complete item, top left below and as shown on the parts diagram above.

Also the method of attaching the mirror glass varies.

Mine above if you tilt the glass fully so looking upwards, there are two slots on the white backing plate above that you can use a screwdriver in to release the bottom of the glass and then tilt it all the way down and unhook the two pegs at the top.

Noy sure on the earlier models, you used to have to heat the plastic rim of the glass to release it, usually breaking it in the process.

Do we know if this section with the three bolt holes slide out or does the back of the mirror come off to get at the folding motor ?

Yuo can remove/replace the blue skull cap but you also need to remove the glass to take out the motor assembly

UK and JDM foresters have totally different part numbers

UK mirrors have non replaceable motors

The associated mirror HEATED glass appear to have the same part numbers  as UK Newage Imprezas.

Rest of mirror including skullcaps are listed as different due to different door mount etc..

Not sure if this the recognised method Subaru use but it should be:cool2: One last problem, I cant see any way of getting the plug through this hole in the trim ?

You have to de-pin the plug

notice plug removed in my photo

JDMmirror component parts.JPG

From Litchfield's fitting instructions (carefully making a note of where each wire goes)

RH motor assembly with heat 91029SA021

LH motor assembly with heat  91029SA031

I think the only difference between non heated motors is the additional wiring required

Looks as if they were fitted to the early  Cross sport as well.

Should be able to, but may need a special tool.

if it cant depin. just cut each wire slighly different lengths. solder back together with small shrink tube each cable :boom:

Most plugs can be de-pinned, you just need to find out how it's achieved.

Here is another example taked from the Subaru Harness repair kit information

I bought a jdm folding mirror from ebay .. due to turn up tomorrow , the plug and wiring looks identical but we will see .

The colour coded cover certainly is not the same but happily I don't need that bit .

I thank you again ,  some of this stuff just isn't possible with out good help.
