Refurbished Inlet Manifold

Just thought i would share this with you. I cant take any credit for it unfortunetly. My dad enjoys these types of projects so i was quite happy to let him get on with it

While the engine is stripped i thought it best to get the manifold stripped and freshened up. It was in the usual sorry state, paint flaking off etc

My dad followed this guide which is very helpful http://www.carldavey.co.uk/article.php?id=1

The manifold was stripped using Nitromors and pressure washed, which left it looking like this

We decided to go for the VHT in wrinkle black (seems to be the choice now the red is more orange in colour)

The dilema was how to heat it up, a heat gun would take to long and he didnt fancy putting it in the oven for obvious reasons. Then a brainwave struck him . . .

This worked a treat and the manifold looks great again. Unfortunetly he was so proud of his work and admired it that much that he forgot to take a finished article picture.
Nevermind, it looks brilliant and i will get a picture of it once its back on the car.

Cheers
Dan

hi all,

have been toying with the idea of getting either a scooby or a civic type r for some time now (i know completely different cars), but just need some advice on the scooby side.

my old man has a 2000 uk turbo classic, which i would like as well, but they seem to be few and far between for a good one, so have started looking at the hawk eye models. it appears you can get a lot of scooby for reasonable money, for example this one

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/adv...age/1?logcode=p

would anyone say that is worth the money or not? i have no idea how much they are worth at the min and which trims are worth what (sti, wrx, ppp, type r etc) as there appear to be many many different levels

suppose all i am asking is, is that model i have linked to worth the money they are asking for, just so i have something to go on in the future?

thanks in advance

dan

The Upsides And Downsides Of Laying Slabs

I've recently started modifying the house for a garage conversion since I have a brand new wee laddie due to be delivered by the stork on the 22nd December. Now most folk these days use the garage as a storeroom, and my g/f is no exception, only this garage is worse than most. So to utilise space better, I decided that 2 new sheds would be required to make the best of what space I had and for the most cost effective way to get them with as little grief on my part (also read labour!). So I decided that a lovely big 15' x 8' shed would sit at the back of the garden, and a long thin 12' x 3' shed would sit neatly down the "wasted" side of the house which would let me store my large collection of power tools and my car parts and polishes. To this end I had to purchase 30 3' x 2' slabs which were laid over a month ago over 2 weekends, the first weekend laying 27 of them to create a large paved area for the large shed to sit on.
And so arose the downside. Approx 9 years ago, I was in my mum's Sapphire Cosworth when some stupid bint ran in to me from behind at 25mph. It put my back out, and the insurance company paid for 6 months worth of chiropractic treatment. Well, I recognised where the pain was immediately after laying the slabs and over stretching myself. So the next day, I tried hunting down my old chiropractor, who as most of the Glasgow based ones are, is Australian. Unfortunately, he has not long returned to Oz, so rather than travelling far, I decided to go to the local Paisley clinic. I had a fair idea of what the cost was going to be, and knew it wouldn't be a one time visit .
And this is where the upside arose, the only chiropractor that was available was new to the practice, her name is Megen, and is always up for a laugh. Oh, and she is fit.
I told Terzo Neil of this story, and we thought about posting up here, but knew the first post would say "this thread is pointless without pictures", so I mentioned this to Megen, who was slightly embarassed but did let me know that she had been to a J & H party where you had to dress as anything beginning with J or H. She dressed as Jailbait!! That night when out, her mum was over at the Edinburgh fringe seeing the Aussie comedian Adam Hills, and one thing led to another, and Megen was invited over for the next show, only if she dressed as Jailbait. She duly did, and now I have both pictures. This lady now delivers SadoMasochism in a professional and legal way.
Anyone else with back problems?

Project

HISTORY .

i bought my 2002 bugeye in 2004 , i seen richard burns driving one on the rally stages and decided there and then i wanted one , but due to other cars and commitments it had to wait . the day came 06th february 2004 i picked the keys up to my wrx i think 8000 miles and owned by rbs previously, so driven by a total banker . once i picked it up other subaru owners kept flashing and waving , always returning the gesture. At that time i lived in lenzie i kept seeing this one impreza all the time waving and flashing it eventually turned out to be HI-JAC who told me all about the club so i joined .i never got to any meets as was to busy with work , but eventually re joined about two years a go the sidc . only mods to the car at that stage were eibach springs . To be honest i knew nothing about modding an impreza the club has well and truly changed that . my car wasnt an sti nor did i want an sti look a like so i opted for an individual looking wrx , so along came a high level boot spolier , 18" team dynamics alloys , colour coded side skirts, front splitter , whiteline arb droplinks , bc coilovers, . Externaly the car is how i want it although got a zun grill front mesh kit to go on and fog light covers also waiting at home .
ENGINE

As a few of you know i took my car up to crail and shagged the bottom end ,there was a slight rattle which never got any worse even after glasgow and lanark runs and this years highland fling , anyway bought a second hand blob 2.0 block with 18000 miles it was put in ran for a couple of days then the crank went solid . I had bought mods to upgrade the power including 550 pinks , sti tmic , vf35 turbo and some toys forge dump valve k&n cone filter front and rear brembos etc , all a waste of time after buying a fecked block of piston heads , so basically had to start again and re think the options , new impreza or crack on wae the bug , crack on wae the bug was the outcome .

so today purchased a brand new 2.5 block hopefully should be delivered soon then i can get cracking and get this car back on the road , also been thinking about eventual power i now want to get into the 400s so bigger turbo injectors will be bought ( see you sat phil) .
forged bits and pieces will be bought this week as well , i will update the post as things progress and get pics as well . oh i cant wait

ALL ADVICE AND SUGGESTIONS WILL BE GLADLY ACCEPTED i want to get this car right and you lot are a mountain of knowledge

kenny

Bluepoint (snap-on) Microscan Diagnostics *price Drop*

Hi All,

Bought this on Friday and on Saturday evening was offered an "EOS" diagnostic scanner at a price I could'nt refuse so I'm selling the MicroScan.

This unit is a fault code reader and description reader i.e has all descriptions for codes. It can also run and save graphs in realtime, so you can attach to your laptop and read.

Having tested on a few cars already, it can switch off engine lights etc. Bluepoint advertise that airbag lights cannot be switched off, don't know why because it switched my Saab's off along with the service light too. It can also be updated via the USB free of charge with the contained CD. Works with all cars 2001> Tested on Marko's engine light and switched it off with the blip of a button.

Anyways, brand spanking new with a silicone glove, bag, USB cable and OBDII cable.

This just cost me £260 on Friday, so anyone that fancies sticking in an offer I will be asking £200.
